Xie Lei told reporters that starting from the beginning of 2017, the market demand for lotus roots is slowly decreasing. By the end of 2018, the market price of lotus roots has dropped to 1.3 yuan per catty. Because the price was too low, at that time, the farmers would rather let the smash into the ground than the mining, and this price cut directly led to a significant reduction in the planting area of lotus roots this year. At the same time, this spring, the weather in the main production areas of the southern lotus roots has changed a lot, and it has also extended the listing period of lotus roots, which caused the listing of lotus roots to drop sharply in June.
Xie Lei: Another reason for the sharp increase in price year-on-year is the volatility of the weather this year. The listing period of Anhui Lotus has been postponed. In the same period last year, Anhui Lotus was the main force of market supply, but this year, until the end of June and early July. Just started to go public, there is no batch listing condition.
The reporter learned that in mid-June, all the lotus roots sold in the market came from the southern producing areas. After entering July, the lotus roots in Anhui Province began to be listed, which also caused the price of lotus roots to decline continuously. However, compared to the same period last year, the current price is still much higher.
Xie Lei: On June 28, the wholesale price of lotus root in Xinfadi Market was 6.5-7.5 yuan/jin, and the price on June 21 was 7.5-8.5 yuan/kg, down 12.50% on a week-on-week basis. Compared with last year, the price of lotus root is relatively high this year; the same period last year was 2.8-3.1 yuan/kg, up 137.29% year-on-year.
Analysts said that in another week, the lotus roots produced in the northern region will be listed one after another, and prices may be further explored. However, due to the large reduction in the planting area of lotus roots this year, the price is bound to remain high and there will be no low price as in the previous year.
xxXie Lei: The supply of lotus roots mainly depends on the winter storage in the northern producing areas in the winter and spring seasons. After the sale of the winter storage lotus roots in the late spring and early summer, it depends on the new rafts of Yunnan, Sichuan and Guangxi, and then the supply gradually moves northward. After the listing of Anhui, the lotus roots in Hubei and Jiangsu have been listed one after another. Once the supply is moved north to Shandong and Hebei, the price will drop to a low in the year. At present, the supply area has moved north to Anhui, and the price has begun to enter the downward range.xx
